Distributed Systems
Exploring how large-scale systems handle consistency, availability, and partition tolerance across multiple nodes.
I'm a backend developer based in Kisumu, Kenya, focused on building practical, real-world systems. I learn by building — picking up concepts through concrete projects rather than isolated study.
My main focus is backend systems, APIs, distributed systems, and networking. I work primarily in Go and enjoy the challenge of building things that are fast, reliable, and useful.
Currently a developer at Zone01 Kisumu, where I'm sharpening my craft one project at a time and working collaboratively with my peers.
Participated in a peer-to-peer hands-on training where I built Go-based backend systems implementing low-level logic and complex data structures. Collaborated on code reviews and automated development environments with Docker & Docker Compose.
Learned the fundamentals of Bitcoin, blockchain, and Lightning wallets — from creating wallets and mining Bitcoin to managing transactions. Participated in a hands-on hackathon where I built an app around Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.
Participated in a 48-hour hackathon where my team built a third-party application connecting donors and NGOs — allowing donors to safely track and account for the use of their funds after donation.
Exploring how large-scale systems handle consistency, availability, and partition tolerance across multiple nodes.
Learning how to architect scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems that can handle real-world traffic and load.
Getting hands-on with container orchestration, deployments, services, and managing workloads at scale.
Deepening understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP internals, and how data moves across networks at a low level.
How building ElimuLocal from scratch taught me more Go than any tutorial ever could.
